When in Kyoto, stay at Kikutsuru

Kikutsuru

Thank you for visiting our website.

Kikutsuru has been carefully renovated from an old Kyoto townhouse (Kyomachiya).

Travelers can enjoy this house without any concerns about disturbing others,

as it is exclusively available for their use.

For the safety of our guests, we have installed fire safety equipment and obtained a license from Kyoto City, ensuring a secure and comfortable stay.

Most of the lighting and fittings are antiques from Japan, and the entrance incorporates elements of a traditional tea room.

During the renovation, no chemicals were used;

instead, traditional methods and materials were employed.

We have also displayed various collections throughout the house, and we hope you enjoy them.

One of my personal favorites is the sliding door in the first-floor Japanese-style room,

featuring a painting of chrysanthemums and cranes, which dates back to the Edo period.

The name "Kikutsuru" is inspired by this painting of chrysanthemums and cranes.
