Marutake-an is a beautifully renovated traditional machiya (Kyoto townhouse),

passed down through generations in our family and now transformed into a welcoming guesthouse.

Located just steps away from the world-famous Nijo Castle,

the house offers a unique blend of history, comfort, and authenticity.

In fact, the castle’s serene rear garden is right outside the front entrance

—perfect for a peaceful morning walk or jog.

Inside the house, you’ll find a collection of beautiful pots that have been lovingly preserved

by my family for many years.

For guests arriving by car, convenient parking is available nearby.
