Welcome to Kyō Nishijin Shichibantei.

My guesthouse is located in a quiet corner of Shichiban-chō,

an old district that still retains traces of its past as a historic geisha quarter.

Just around the corner is the setting of "Evening Mist in Gobanchō",

the famous novel by Tsutomu Mizukami,

which tells the tragic love story of a young monk and a courtesan from his hometown.

Though not large, this charming and character-rich Kyoto townhouse was renovated and opened

as a private rental in August 2018.

On the second floor of the house, we've built a spacious terrace and added a hammock for your relaxation.

There is also an electrical outlet nearby so you can use a fan to stay cool and enjoy your time comfortably, free from mosquitoes.

Just behind the house is Ōichi, a renowned restaurant specializing in suppon (soft-shelled turtle) cuisine.

This 340-year-old establishment is so legendary that the late Kyoto-based author Jakuchō Setouchi

once said, “If I could choose one last meal before I die, it would be suppon from Ōichi.”

From the terrace, you can catch a view of its impressive, mansion-like exterior.
